THIS DAY'S POLICE.

A BURGLAR CAPTURED AT CLAPHAM.

Thomas Stone, a middle-aged man, was charged on remand, at Wandsworth today, with burglariously breaking into 14, Lavender-terrace, Clapham-junction, and stealing eight sheets, six table-cloths, and numerous other articles, the property of Sophia Coles. - The prisoner was stopped by Police-constable Watkins at six o'clock in the morning, carrying a bundle containing the stolen property. He dropped the bundle and made off. The officer pursued him. - The magistrate was informed that the prisoner had had five years' penal servitude for burglary, and other shorter terms of imprisonment for felony. - Mr. Denman committed the prisoner for trial.
