Dr. Phillips Vaccinates The H Division
ENGLISH NEWS.
A few days since Colonel Henderson issued an order that all the officers and constables connected with the metropolitan police-force should be immediately vaccinated by the divisional surgeons, and in case of any individual declining to comply with the terms of the order, it was stated that he would be at once called upon to resign. Dr. G.B. Phillips, the divisional surgeon, thereupon vaccinated all the sergeants and constables of the H division. On February 13, 600 girls in the employment of Messrs. Ely, the cartridge manufacturers, of Gray's-inn-road, were vaccinated by a surgeon at the premises of their employers. The firm contracted with the surgeon to perform the operation, and he completed his labours in three hours and a half. The girls were marched past him in a line.
