Royal Alpha Lodge Empty Royal Alpha Lodge

Post by Karen Fri 24 Jun 2011 - 1:31

Last night at the Royal Alpha Lodge Prince Albert Victor of Wales was initiated by his Royal father, who is Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of England. The Alpha Lodge is a private and "working" lodge, and dates from the year 1722. Each private lodge can make its own by-laws, and those of the Alpha restrict the number of members to thirty-three, while the members are nearly all officers or past officers of the Grand Lodge of England. The ceremony took place at Willis's Rooms, and was attended by the Earl of Carnarvon, Pro-Grand Master; Lord Balfour of Burleigh, Past Grand Warden; the Earl of Limerick, Provincial Grand Master of Bristol; Colonel Shadwell Clarke, Grand Secretary; the Rev. C.J. Martyn, Deputy Provincial Grand Master of Suffolk, and Sir John Monckton, Past Grand Warden; Sir Albert Woods (Garter); the Rev. J. Brownrigg, Past Grand Chaplain; the Rev. E. Moore, Past Grand Chaplain, and many others.
