An Attack After Mackenzie
ANOTHER "RIPPER" OUTRAGE.

THE INTENDED VICTIM ESCAPES.
LONDON, July 18.
Late last night the police in South London were informed by a woman belonging to the unfortunate class that an attempt had been made to murder her. She stated that a man in whose company she was suddenly stopped at a deserted spot near Walworth and drew a knife, at the same time declaring his intention to murder her. The woman screamed and the man then bolted. So far the police have no clue to the would-be murderer, who is confidently believed to be identified with "Jack the Ripper." It is generally supposed that the miscreant has temporarily forsaken the East-End, and will carry on his fiendish work in the south and other parts of London.
