Fire at the National Library of Wales Empty Fire at the National Library of Wales

Post by Karen Sat 27 Apr 2013 - 16:00

On Friday, April 26, 2013, an unfortunate tragedy occurred at the National Library of Wales caused by a fire in the section used by staff as office space. As you may be aware, the National Library of Wales had just recently opened its newspaper digitization project. This is a very unfortunate turn of events and I hope nothing of value was damaged in the fire. Apparently contractors had been working on the roof of the building just prior to the fire. I will put the links to the articles here:

Latest news on the fire update from the library's own Facebook page:

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO LIBRARY STAFF

A meeting will be held for all Library staff at 10.00am on Monday 29 April, to share the latest information following the fire at the Library on Friday.

Members of staff will explain the exact arrangements to the workforce as they clock in.

The Library will re-open to the public on Tuesday 30 April.

Please share.

I'm sincerely glad that no one was hurt!
