Ripper Letters From The Midlands
Not only did the press reports mention the Midlands area, so did a few letters penned by "Jack The Ripper". The following letters mention:
*Birmingham - Pearson received his medical training at the Birmingham General Hospital
*Brum - word used to describe the inhabitants of Birmingham
*Wouster - word used to describe the area known as Worcestershire (next to Staffordshire)
*Brierley Hill - Pearson was born here
*Manchester - area where the Manchester United Order of Oddfellows was formed (Pearson was a Surgeon to the Oddfellows)
This letter has "Birmingham" written on the top right hand corner

The author writes "slogging town of Brum"; this describes the area of Birmingham

This letter contains the word "Manchester"

This letter mentions the word "Wouster" on the top right corner - Wouster is what the local townsfolk call the area known as Worcestershire (next to Staffordshire). This letter was mailed from Brierley Hill, the area where Dr. Pearson was born.
