Forster and Andrews Arrested
Still, the murderer of Whitechapel has not been found and it is beginning to bring despair,
but some light in this case will be ignited. In Belfast was arrested a man who seems quite suspicious. He is called John Forster, he is thirty years old and has a truly villainous face. in his possession a pouch was found, which contained three razors and a carving knife, stained with blood. He gave very confused answers and did not provide adequate explanations as to his his actions of late. He was, before he arrived in Belfast, in Glasgow and had been 48 hours in Edinburgh. Received from Belfast was one of the sheets which contained a letter to the Central News Agency which states:
Dear Boss, I have arrived in your city, London is a bit hot for me at the moment. Prostitutes in Belfast should be on their guard, because I think Saturday I will begin my work. I have already seen some fat women, whose slaughter will be easy. I am impatient to begin, I love my work."
This letter was written with red ink and signed "Jack the Ripper. " In addition, police suspect a man who is recently in the hospital in the East-end and whose behaviour is very suspicious, and a resident of Spitalfields was arrested, that of a certain J. Andrew, whom the neighbors have given the nickname Parnell.
In Liverpool, a lady was in Sheet Park one evening, and according to her declaration was approached by a man who asked her if there were many poor women in this neighborhood, then suddenly he took out a knife, and cried, "I will kill many in Liverpool and London." It is quite possible that the lady had a hallucination, or a madman has been engaged.
The sad events have made a deep impression on many weak constitutions.
So many people come to the police to accuse individuals while later on it is proven that they are dead or innocent.
They are in a state of excitement, which they imagine themselves guilty.
