Jack In Winnipeg? Empty Jack In Winnipeg?

Winnipeg has received word from "Jack the Ripper" that he will be in that city in a short time. The letter bore the Port Huron post mark. According to the Call "Jack the Ripper" was in Winnipeg some time since. He did not cause any alarm at that time, and there is little probability that he will now.

Jack In Winnipeg? Empty Letter to the Winnipeg Free Press

JACK-THE-RIPPER.

Writes From St. Paul - He is Coming to Winnipeg.

Thursday the Free Press received a letter with a St. Paul postmark of Oct. 1st, addressed as follows:

WINNIPEG MAIN
DAILY FREE PREE
PLEASE OPEN.

The envelope contained a half-sheet of note paper on which was written in fairly good handwriting the following letter:

ST. PAUL, OCT. Xth, 1890.

DEAR SIR, - I have heard about Winipeg and I am going to Be thair on Oct. 16th. I am well known as Jack the Ripper and I am going to do some work thair. I am going to kill 3 woman and one man.

JACK THE RIPPER.

Look out for me and don't forget Oct. 16.

The whole thing is a very sickly attempt at a practical joke, which has not the merit even of being original.
