A Man Named Kelly Arrested
JACK THE RIPPER.
The Whitechapel Fiend Caught Red-Handed.
He Commits Another Murder and Is Caught by the Police.
At three o'clock on the morning of the 20th, the shrieks of a woman were heard near St. George's buildings, in the Whitechapel district. A few minutes after the police caught a man running away knife in hand. The police then entered the building and found a woman's body terribly mutilated. It is believed that the perpetrator of all the "Jack the Ripper" murders has been captured at last.
The name of the captured man is said to be Kelly, and this makes his eighth victim. Several letters had lately been received by the police, all of which stated that he would begin work again in July. The prevailing theory is that Jack the Ripper is a religious crank, who thinks he has a mission to perform. Another man was arrested charged with murdering the last Whitechapel victim. He confessed the crime, but is thought to be insane and his story is not believed. He said he had murdered all the others. After careful investigation the police came to the conclusion that he was only a drunken lunatic.
