Conspirators Arrested
The London Scandal.
LONDON, Dec. 18. - As a result of the secret examination in connection with the West End scandal, a summons has been issued for the arrest of Solicitor Arthur Newton, Clerk Taylor, and Interpreter Delgala for conspiracy to defeat justice. It is understood Newton assisted the proprietor of the Cleveland Street house, in which the scandal occurred, in reaching America.
Preliminary to his demand in Parliament, when that body shall assemble, that the government take official cognizance of the West End Club scandals, Labouchere published in Truth a scorching review of the infamy, which is the most thorough exhibit of the rottenness of a certain class of English aristocracy that any journal has yet dared to place before its readers. While of course no names are mentioned, the readers cannot fail to recognize the persons most likely to be called to account. One peer implicated, Labouchere asserts, has already tacitly admitted his guilt by not only leaving the country, but has been seeking congenial associations in the service of the Sultan of Turkey.
