THE WHITECHAPEL MURDERS.
[PRESS ASSOCIATION.]
LONDON, October 14.
A handkerchief which has been identified as the property of one of the victims of the recent Whitechapel murders, has been discovered in an untenantable house. The vicinity upon the walls of a room in which the handkerchief was found was some writing, including the words, "The Jews are not responsible for this." The detectives intended to have the writing photographed, but the words were obliterated at the instigation of Sir Charles Warren, Commissioner of Police. The detectives are very indignant at the action of Sir Charles Warren, and aver that an important clue to the perpetrator of the murders has thus been lost.
THE WHITECHAPEL MURDERS.
A German named Ludwig was arrested on suspicion on September 14th of being the perpetrator of the recent Whitechapel murders. He had threatened a fallen woman in Whitechapel with a long knife. In his pockets were found a razor and a pair of scissors. He cannot speak English, and had only been in the country three months. Another arrest was made on the 19th.
